Over the last 12 years Genem has been working with Antonio Park Primary School, in redesigning and rebuilding its facilities. Michaela, is a highly innovative architect, who works tireless to ensure her design is delivered in a timely way, cost effective and to the highest quality. I am impressed with Michaela's professionalism, honest and integrity. Michaela listens intently and intuitively to the needs of the school and incorporates the following design principles that maximise student learning outcomes, experiences and opportunities:

The Brief

The school received $2.5 million as part of the BER project. The funds were advised to be used for a multi-purpose hall. As the school already had a new multi-purpose hall, provided by Genem in 2005, it was decided to refurbish the existing hall and build a new performing arts centre. Eight disused classrooms were relocated from another school and used to sculpt and shape a new space. As the school is very environmentally-oriented, it was important not to have any buildings encroach upon the school's fields or the forest reserve behind the school. Thus, the buildings were double-storey and placed on the boundary of the school, in order to minimise the footprint of the built space.

There was sufficient space not only for music practice rooms on the ground floor, but also a science room. The dance studios on the first floor were built with sprung floors.

The project has recently been completed (winter 2011), and has come under budget by $400,000. These remaining funds will be used to build an after-school care centre.
