Genem Architects have been designing and project managing for Lilydale Adventist Academy for many years. Projects have included design work and refurbishment of our Science Building, Art and Technology Centre and more recently the Language Centre. In 2007 the Library Resource Centre was opened which includes a 54 seat Theatrette.

The Brief

Lilydale requested a central hub, a place around which the school should develop. After viewing the existing site, Genem Architects provided a plan that involved an entirely new Library Resource Centre.

One of the successes of the Library Resource Centre was the deceptive exterior, which was designed to be visually connected with the established buildings.

Internally the resource centre is surprisingly individual. The design has incorporated a visually dynamic ceiling, providing an interesting volume which allows a significant amount of natural and artificial light to facilitate learning.
