Genem Architects were approached by the Principal of the school in 1995, who had a very small space next to his office which he wanted to convert into the resource room. Genem instead provided a master plan, from which it was discovered that the proposed space would be inadequate.
The master plan allowed them to develop an alternative plan by integrating a classroom from another school into a larger space, providing a resource room that was beyond their expectations, both larger in size than expected and within the budget available.
Through the development of the master plan, and the precedent set by re-integrating entire buildings, Genem successfully assisted Wattle Park Primary School a year later by applying the same philosophy to the creation of a new school gymnasium.
These examples stand as a clear testament to Genem's engagement with environment concerns, and indicate their unique ability to make the most from resources already at hand.
Since these two projects, initiated in 1995 and 1996, the school has worked with Genem on at least three other projects, including the refurbishment of the entire school with a new administrative area, a refurbishment of the gymnasium, and the addition of eight new classrooms (currently still under construction).
